Purpose Built Boys & Girls Club – Luther J. Price Middle School

I chose the Boys and Girls Club because I witnessed firsthand how their programs, dedicated staff, and strong relationships positively influence youth and enrich the community. Seeing the transformative impact these programs have on young lives inspired me to be a part of this mission. The Boys and Girls Club provides me with the opportunity to give back to the community and support the youth and their families, making a lasting difference in their lives.

Throughout my life, I have been influenced by several remarkable people, starting with my 7th-grade science teacher, who made me feel seen and heard by creating a safe space for me to share. My basketball coach also played a significant role, offering encouraging words that taught me never to give up and to view mistakes as learning opportunities. Most importantly, my mother, who tirelessly cared for me and my baby sister, instilled in me the values of perseverance, loyalty, and courage.

Every day matters, and what you do today will shape your tomorrow, so always take the time to consider all your options before making decisions. Never give up on your dreams and goals, even when faced with hardships and obstacles. These challenges are opportunities to learn and grow, helping you become the person you are destined to be.

The clubs in our communities are necessary for developing the youth living there. They provide a place for kids and teens to feel safe, be included, and engage in impactful programs and activities. In addition, our clubs are places of fun where our members can form positive relationships while developing and discovering new skills and talents.

Purpose-Built Clubs are unique in our community because they are school-based sites that partner with teachers, counselors, and administrative staff, enhancing our communication with parents. This collaboration allows us to build more meaningful relationships within the community and provide a cohesive support system for our students and members. It also encourages and empowers our students, members, and parents, fostering a stronger, more connected community.
