At-Promise Southwest Boys & Girls Club

The At-Promise Southwest Boys & Girls Club serves as the cornerstone of an ongoing effort led by the Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department to empower youth and reduce the number of young people in the criminal justice system. This mission complements our focus on helping kids succeed in school, lead healthy lives, and become leaders. The partnership also offers unique opportunities to host programming designed to improve dialogue between youth and law enforcement, encourage civic engagement, and enhance understanding of federal, state, and local laws.

Director Q & A

Q & A with the Executive Director – Jada Rogers

Why Boys & Girls Club

As a former Club kid from the ages of 9-17, I have experienced firsthand the impact of the amazing staff who welcomed me with open arms every time I entered the site. It is my mission to pass on that torch and provide our youth with the life and social skills, empowerment, and academic and career opportunities that I would not have received elsewhere.

Who Influenced Me

My mother and my grandmother are my two greatest influences. They are the strongest, most impactful, and most driven women I know. As proud social justice advocates, they have blazed a trail of love and service for whoever has crossed their paths. Both women have conquered what many may have thought to be unconquerable and are true reflections of what it means to live and continue to be active participants in the betterment of the people around them and this world.

Advice for our Youth

We don’t get to choose where we come from, but the power lies within ourselves to choose where we are going. With perseverance, determination, and discipline you have the power to be whomever or whatever your wildest dreams are. Choose yourself, choose your future!

Our Impact in the Community

As a story, I tell often and proudly, Boys & Girls Club truly saved my life. It allowed me a space to be, think, and create freely with like-minded individuals from the staff to my peers. The highly trained and empathetic staff and Club management supporting me along my journey were impassioned with my success and gave me inspiration and hope every time I walked through the site doors. This is a tradition that I have proudly witnessed extended at At-Promise Southwest. We provide young adults with the opportunities to explore their personal passions and interests through innovative programming, deepened community relationships, and a curriculum that empowers the development of their social and emotional learning skills. We are creating agents of change ready to conquer the world!

What Makes Our Club Special

At-Promise Southwest is special because it is the epitome of what it means to be the village it takes to nourish youth. Through our partnerships, our youth and staff have a unique opportunity to collaborate with organizations and individuals from all walks of life and professions who have a shared commitment to better the communities that we serve. Our youth are one of a kind, and the resources we have available are here to support, encourage, and empower them socially, academically, and personally.
