Director Q & A

Q & A with the Executive Director – Marlon Andrews

Why Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club was the first workspace where I was able to exercise my professional skills and talents all while making a difference in the lives of others.

Who Influenced Me

My family had a large influence on my life and how I view the world. Hard work, Gratitude and Empathy are values I learned from my family. My mentor, Terrell, shared a quote with me, that changed my life forever as it influences my decisions professionally and personally. It reads, “Whatever you do, strive to do it so well that no man living and no man dead and no man yet to be born could do it any better.” – Benjamin E. Mays

Advice for our Youth

You only get one shot at life, live it! Ask questions and try new things! No matter what it looks like or what it feels like, if life brings you to it, don’t just go through it GROW through it!

Our Impact in the Community

The Boys & Girls Club has a hands-on approach to introducing new concepts and ideas to our members. I get excited to see members making an impact on their community while engaging in a community that is making an impact on them.

What Makes Our Club Special

Our club is a safe haven for many of our members and staff. When anyone walk through the doors at the A. W. “Tony” Matthews Boys & Girls Club doors we want the feeling of welcome to rest on them. We make a difference not in just how we program but how we show up every single day.
