Meet Gabriella: Youth of the Year for Jesse Draper Boys & Girls Club

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: To attend Alabama State University and become a business owner.

How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career? The Club has posted college fairs and programs that have helped me learn more about college and discover careers that may interest me. For example, I had the opportunity to participate in the Georgia State University STEM program.

Why is it important for the youth to use their voice in today’s society? Youth should use their voice because we are decision makers, future leaders, and create positive change in our communities. Our opinions and life experiences matter and speaking up bring attention to important issues of life, such as opportunities for youth and education.

Short Bio: Gabriella is a 17-year-old senior who credits the Club with helping her become a strong, and confident leader. The Club gave her opportunities to participate in programs and activities to help her step outside her comfort zone.
