Meet Amani: Youth of the Year for Lawrenceville Boys & Girls Club

Club membership: Joined in 2023

Post-Secondary/Career Interest:  I want to go to either an HBCU or an Arts school to study marketing or fashion marketing. I want to work in the fashion or entertainment industry and eventually have my own fashion brand, focused on inclusivity and sustainability.

How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career? They’ve supported my goals for college through programs like workforce readiness, college tours, and professional development opportunities through programs like Keystone.

Why is it important for the youth to use their voice in today’s society? Youth are the ones who will have to live with the long-term effects of whatever happens today. We bring a fresh perspective that will not be expressed unless we express it.

Short Bio: Amani is a 17-year-old senior who credits Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta with helping her overcome anxiety and being self-conscious. The Club taught me that getting to know new people is a good thing, and that change is inevitable.
