1) How long have you been a member of Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta?
I’ve been attending for 8 years.
2) Why is your Boys & Girls Club important to you?
It’s just a fun place to learn and make friends.
3) What is your career goal? What do you want to do, be when you grow up?
A physical therapist.
4) How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career?
They have helped me learn about different finance and scholarship opportunities.
5) Who has been a major influence in your life? Why?
My mother because she taught me what not to do in life.
6) What is a success you achieved through the support of your Club?
The dance team I’m on won the dance competition this summer, and now different Clubs and organizations ask us to dance for them.
7) What is a challenge that your Club helped you overcome?
My Club has helped me overcome my social anxiety, with being more comfortable to opening up.
8) Do you volunteer in your community or at the Club? Can you share a few examples of this?
Yes, I do volunteer work in an after-school club called Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). I also volunteer with Keystone.
9) Why do you believe it is important for teens to use their voice in today’s society?
I think it is important for teens to use their voice in today’s society because, if people know and they communicate how they feel, then they can create bonds and be more understood.
10) What are you doing, what can you do to spark positive change in today’s society?
I would like to bring more awareness to mental health issues.
11) What moment or moments in your Club do you believe have shaped you to serve as your Club’s Youth of the Year
I believe something that shaped me into being the Youth of the Year for my Club was the dance team because, if it wasn’t for the dance team, then I wouldn’t be going to my Club as much as I’m supposed to be going. Then I wouldn’t have got the opportunity to be a Youth of the Year.
