Summer at Camp Kiwanis 2023

Summer at Camp Kiwanis 2023
July 20, 2023 Carly Robinson

We say goodbye to the last of our campers Friday, and it has been a great summer. Each week our campers have had fun as they learn new skills in the outdoors. Our programs are designed to not only teach kids those skills, but also how to set goals and meet them. This process of setting the goal, completing the action steps to meet the goal, and then achieving the goal, gives our campers confidence to continue to try new adventures and challenge themselves. We want them to know they have unlimited potential to make an impact on their communities.

The kids learned just how peaceful their time outdoors could be.

Our garden has been incredibly productive this year thanks to the hard work of our staff and campers.

One of our camper clans was caught on a hike by one of the trail cams.

Ensuring kids get the nutrients they need while also serving them something they enjoy eating is a bit challenging. We have an amazing chef who mixes the spinach growing in the garden right into our sloppy joes!

We do love seeing our program animals enjoying their food.

Some of our campers were fortunate enough to witness a turtle laying her eggs. What a rare treat to see nature in action!

Campers found this piece of driftwood with an interesting impression on it. This led to a lively debate as to what it could possibly be.

Campers found this leaf floating in the river and loved seeing just how beautiful nature can be.

You cannot have camp without S’MORES. We sure enjoy them!

Campers enjoyed going through their finds for the ecology investigation of Blue Stone Creek.
