Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta had a Super Summer!

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s (BGCMA) 2023 summer camp was themed “Super Summer!” With 25 Clubs across 10 counties, Metro Atlanta was filled with kids and teens making super memories! Our Clubs saw a summertime average daily attendance of more than 2400 members–including more than 600 teens! Keep scrolling to see a few moments that made our summer super.

2nd Annual Law Camp

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) members’ unlimited potential was yet again ignited at the 2nd Annual Law Camp. First hosted in 2022 at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton (KTS), where BGCMA Board Chair Charlie Henn is a partner, this unique opportunity gives Club members first-hand experiences with experienced attorneys. Tybee Island Experience

Over the course of two weeks,  BGCMA brought 198 Club members (1st-12th graders) to Tybee Island. During the trip, Club members explored the marine ecosystem along the Georgia Coast. This unique Summer Camp experience occurred through BGCMA’s Expanded Learning Program. BGCMA’s Expanded Learning Program Strategy had four target areas: academic acceleration, a multi-tiered system of support, Saturday Academy (enriching experiences), and building partnerships. “Seeing our youth engaging in safe, education, and enjoyable activities outside of their regular routines was gratifying,” said Director of Expanded Learning Ruth Wilcox.

Career Day at Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A hosted our Douglas County Club teens for Career Day! While at the Chick-fil-A Support Center, Club teens learned about manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and innovation. Thank you to our BGCMA Trustee & Chick-fil-A President/COO Tim Tassopoulous and BGCMA Board Member & Chick-fil-A Vice President for Supply Chain Development Paul Trotti for continuing to pour into Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta!

Deloitte’s Annual Volunteer Day Hosted at A. Worley Brown Club

Almost 100 Deloitte volunteers came to A. Worley Brown Club for their Annual Day of Service! With the help of the awesome Deloitte volunteers, our Club kids built robots from scratch. Thank you, Deloitte and Board Member Gairy Moore!

Smith & Howard Hosted a Field Day at Matthews Boys & Girls Club

At Matthews Club, Smith & Howard gave our Club kids & teens a memorable day filled with a kickball game, water balloon toss, double dutch, and more!

Theatrical Outfit Returns for the Second Year in the Row!

Theatrical Outfit wrapped its second year at the Club, bringing Rythm & Revision to 40 Club members. In this safe, creative space, Club members wrote poems, rapped, sang, and created written plays. “In Theatrical Outfit Camp, they found their voices, equipped with the narrative tools to tell their own unique stories,” said Harland Club Teen Director Vincent Blake, “Together, they embraced the transformative power of art, leaving an indelible mark on the world and inspiring us all to dream bigger and create fearlessly.”

Harland Panthers take on Gensler’s Club Ideate at Savannah College of Art & Design, Atlanta Campus

“Super Summer 2023 was an extraordinary journey where our teen members discovered the power of their creativity, ” said Harland Club Teen Director (and SCAD alumnus) Vincent Blake, “Through the SCAD/Gensler camp, they explored the world of design and architecture, unlocking their imaginations and honing their skills to shape the future.”

Camp Kiwanis

This summer, Camp K welcomed more than 400 Club kids to our 160-acre residential camp in Danielsville. Campers ages 9-14 participated in water activities (swimming, tubing, and kayaking), archery, orienteering, night hikes, and so much more! “I am so very thankful for the awesome hardworking staff and LINK Members (Leaders in Nature’s Kingdom) for the teamwork to make this dream work,” said Camp Kiwanis Director Carly Robinson. Club Members Head to Georgia State University For STEM Camp

In partnership with #IAMSTEM, under Dr. Natalie King’s leadership, over the course of four weeks, Club members across three Clubs participated in STEM Camp at Georgia State University. Club members had the opportunity to display their learnings during the STEM Showcase.

At-Promise South Club Hosts $5 Pop-Up Shop

Throughout the summer, teens from At-Promise South Club ignited their inner entrepreneur as they participated in an entrepreneurship workshop throughout camp. They demonstrated their new skills with a Pop-Up Shop, with all featured items made by our Club teens. Club teens sold lemonade, handmade candles, jewelry, body butter, body scrubs, trendy t-shirts, and performances at the Pop-Up shop.

Mercedes Benz Hosted a Pizza & Ice Cream Party for East DeKalb Club

Mercedes Benz volunteers treated Club members to a fun pizza and ice cream party! With indoor and outdoor games and plenty of pizza and ice cream, our Club kids and teens had so much fun!
