Meet Kylie: Youth of the Year for Flint River Boys & Girls Club

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: I plan to finish college and work as a baker. I already bake things in my spare time because it is something I enjoy.

How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career? My goal is to build a career doing something I enjoy and am passionate about. I would like to use my creativity possibly turn my art into a job.

Why is it important for the youth to use their voice in today’s society? It is important because it gives an image to the people that have the same similarities as some of us and, showing how they can get through it by participating in the Boys & Girls Club; a place where a lot of people have blossomed and became someone.

Short Bio: Kylie is a 13-year-old who credits the Club with helping her achieve a goal of overcoming her shyness. She would have never expected herself to be part of Youth of the Year, because in the past she could barely ask questions in her own classroom.
