Meet Aubree: Youth of the Year for A.W. Tony Matthews Boys & Girls Club

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: After high school, I plan to attend college and continue my education in a field that I’m passionate about. I want to experience new things, meet new people, and prepare myself for a successful future.

How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career? My Club has supported my future goals by encouraging me to take my education seriously and helping me develop skills that I will need in the future. The Club has also introduced me to different opportunities and people who encourage me to dream big. It reminds me that my future is something I can work toward starting now.

Why is it important for the youth to use their voice in today’s society? It is important for youth to use their voice because we are the future of our communities. Young people have different experiences, ideas, and perspectives that deserve to be heard. Using our voices can help bring attention to things that matter to us and inspire positive change. We shouldn’t wait until we’re older to make a difference.

Short Bio: Aubree is a 12-year-old student who credits Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta helping her with becoming more confident in herself and her abilities. “The Club has given me opportunities to speak up, try new things, and step outside of my comfort zone. Because of the encouragement I have received, I have learned that I am capable of more than I sometimes think.”
