On Feb. 18, John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club hosted its first ever Sneaker Ball. Organized by a middle school Club member, the event featured face painting, a DJ, and plenty of cupcakes and pizza.
“Our inaugural Harland Sneaker Ball was a huge success,” said Teen Director Vincent Blake, “the food, music, and activities were all amazing, and the young people were so excited to be able to show off their sneakers.”
East DeKalb Club and Whitehead Clubs were also there for the fun. “Everyone had a great time,” said Blake. “We were so pleased to see so many members of different Clubs in attendance.”
After dancing and eating pizza, everyone got a chance to do a runway walk showing off their sneakers. Club members cheered each other on and encouraged their shy peers to walk with them.
The night for the younger Club members wrapped with more dancing while teen members headed into the upstairs teen space.
