C-i-n-d-e-r-e-l-l-a. After Douglas County Club’s Azaria L.P. correctly spelled “Cinderella” at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) Spelling Bee on March 25, she became the first ever BGCMA spelling bee champ! Confetti filled the air.

Held on a Friday night at the John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club, BGCMA’s inaugural Spelling Bee was a fun hybrid event. There were 50 Club members vying to win it all, 25 special in-person guests, and 25 awesome Club staff chaperones. Families and staff alike tuned in to watch the BGCMA Spelling Bee online.

Douglas County Executive Director Steve Hord, Douglas County Club Staff, and all Club members have earned the bragging rights of winning BGCMA’s 1st Spelling Bee and will proudly display the BGCMA’s Spelling Bee plaque in their Club for one year!

Congratulations also goes to runner-up Tatum B. from the Jesse Draper Club, and third-place speller Jared A. from the A. Worley Brown Club.
