During 2026 spring break, 25 high school juniors and seniors from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) traveled across Georgia and South Carolina for a college tour designed to expose members to higher education opportunities and campus life.
On April 7, members visited Savannah State University, South Carolina State University, and Claflin University. The group also toured the historic Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, the first Club established in Georgia.
The trip was chaperoned by Dr. Anna Jones, Ambernique Howard, Jada Rogers, Kayla Wilson, and Joshua Willis, who guided and supported members throughout the experience.
During the college visits, students learned about a variety of academic majors and career pathways while participating in admissions presentations, touring classrooms, and exploring campus resources. Members also had the opportunity to learn about ROTC programs and experience student life by eating lunch in campus dining halls.
A major highlight of the trip took place at Claflin University, where members were able to complete college applications during the visit. Two students received on-the-spot acceptances along with scholarship opportunities.
The 2026 spring break college tour reflects BGCMA’s ongoing commitment to preparing teens for success after high school by providing meaningful exposure to college campuses, academic opportunities, and supportive networks that help students envision their future.
