Meet this month’s work besties! Barksdale Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Terry Walker-Moore and Anderson Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Nkeschia Brundidge-Clark have been work besties for over 20 years.
“Many moons ago,” that was what Brundidge-Clark jokingly responded when asked when they first met. After a few more laughs and inside jokes, both agree they met at a Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) org-wide meeting, but with a 20-year friendship, neither could pinpoint an exact day.
Walker-Moore added that two were program directors at the same time and were promoted to executive director positions at the same time, with Walker-Moore promoted in October 2005 and Brundidge-Clark promoted in November 2005.
Moving through BGCMA together has strengthened their friendship. In the workplace, they often bounce ideas off of each other and have spearheaded trainings together. “Sometimes the work we do can be difficult,” said Brundidge-Clark, “but having someone you can converse back and forth with makes it easier.”
For Walker-Moore, having Brundidge-Clark as her work bestie means having an accountability partner and being her work bestie’s accountability partner. Brundidge-Clark “makes sure I take care of myself…When I have bad days, she’s there.”
Authentic is what Walker-Moore used to describe their friendship. “I can be myself. When I have bad days, Keisha is there.” Brundidge-Clark nodded in agreement saying Walker-Moore was always there to offer an encouraging word.
Outside of work, you can find Walker-Moore and Brundidge-Clark shopping in either a Ross or Target or making inside jokes with each other.
“I know everyone wished they had a best buddy like us,” said Brundidge-Clark.
