Club membership: 12 years

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: “I plan to obtain my real estate license and attend college to become an interior designer, using my creativity to guide and inspire those in need. Additionally, I want to start a construction business, becoming a dependable and trustworthy professional who designs and constructs homes for others’ security. My goal is to design, build, and sell homes, as I’ve always loved the idea of helping people achieve their dream spaces. I strive to make dreams a reality.”

Why is your Boys & Girls Club important to you? “The Boys and Girls Club is important to me because it has helped me become the woman I am today. As I continue to grow, lead, and speak up, they have supported me through both the toughest and greatest times of my youth.”

How does it feel to represent your Club as Youth of the Year? What does it mean to you? “It feels amazing to represent my club. My heart is filled with joy as my accomplishments are validated, and they continue to provide me with opportunities that will help build my future. They have blessed me with various experiences that are shaping my path ahead.

Meet Nicole: Nicole is a 17-year-old senior at Southwest DeKalb High School and has been a member of the Warren Boys & Girls Club for 12 years. She plans to pursue a career in interior design and real estate, combining her passion for creativity with a goal to design, build, and sell homes. Nicole values her Boys & Girls Club for shaping her leadership skills and giving her confidence in decision-making. The Club has provided her with opportunities in career readiness, including connections with professionals at Gensler and summer programs to expand her creative skills. As Youth of the Year, Nicole hopes to inspire others through Keystone and TORCH Club and build her community with positivity through initiatives like Panthers for Peace. To Nicole, a legacy of impact means leaving a lasting influence that helps future generations thrive, serving as a role model and spreading positivity wherever she goes.

“Boys & Girls Clubs have given me many opportunities when it comes to career readiness. When I found out that I wanted to be an interior designer, they introduced me to many different people who worked at Gensler. They let me join many summer programs, such as Club Ideate to expand my designing and creative thinking skills.”
