Meet Lyra: Youth of the Year for Camp Kiwanis

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: Attend Spelman College, major in psychology, and become a child behavioral psychiatrist.

What does the phrase “Power of Now” mean to you? Focus on the present, take action now, and help people who need support today.

Why is it important for kids to use their voice? Speaking up breaks stigma around mental health and shows others they’re not alone.

Short Bio: Lyra is a 15-year-old sophomore active at Camp Kiwanis and Barksdale. She overcame bullying and anxiety, became an F.I.T., and now mentors younger youth. She invites speakers to advocate for mental health and plans a career in child psychiatry.
