Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s Girls Empowerment Movement (GEM) team presented teen girl Club members with a Create a Movement Spa and Pamper Party on Feb. 4.
GEM Program is a three-year grant funded by the Atlanta Youth Foundation. It is a statewide initiative to increase the physical activity and fitness levels of Georgia middle school girls. Warren, A. Worley Brown, Anderson, Douglas, Barksdale, Lawrenceville, and Grant Clubs are proud to host the GEM program for their teen girl Club members.
Twenty-three girls from Warren, Grant, A. Worley Brown, and Anderson Clubs were treated to a day of services featuring facials, hand and feet detoxes, and much more! They heard from guest speaker Pearl Fils-Aime and the owners of Iwi Fresh Spa about the importance of self-care and leadership. After listening to the dynamic speakers, they enjoyed lunch and ended their day with a trip to the Original Selfie Museum.
Pearl will return for more GEM programming; she will direct the Fit, Fresh, and Fabulous GEM Fashion Show in April.
Special thanks to our awesome staff Ladasia (Warren Club) and Treva (A. Worley Brown) for chaperoning and ensuring our Club members had a safe and relaxing experience.
