Cox Funds Tech Center for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Empowering Children for Bright Futures
Chamblee, GA (December 5, 2018) – Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Cox partner to prepare kids for bright futures with tech. The grand opening of the latest Cox Technology Center took place at the Chamblee Boys & Girls Club. The Center, made possible through The James M. Cox Foundation, provides students access to curriculum to advance their computer skills and help bridge the digital divide for children who have no access to a computer or internet connection at home.
Cox and The James M. Cox Foundation have opened more than 100 Cox Technology Centers across the nation.
“Since 2003, Cox has contributed more than $20 million to support Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Together through our partnership, we empower and position children for lifelong success, says Pat Esser, President of Cox Communications.
“Our Club provides a safe space for kids and teens to build relationships and to focus on their academic goals. Through the Cox Tech Center, students will have access to the essential tools to assist with homework, research, job searches and college preparation,” says LaSonya Hendrix, Club Director. “We are grateful to Cox, because they are giving more youth the opportunity to a successful future.”
The Boys & Girls Club Technology Center includes state-of-the-art computers, along with desktops, monitors, laptops, printers, docking stations, wireless routers, wireless cards, and proprietary Microsoft and Club Tech software. Through the Club Tech suite of programs, kids learn the basics of business software, plus stay safe online and move on to advanced hardware and networking skills.
