In light of updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), insight from our Public Health Advisory, and a downtrend in COVID-19 community transmission, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) will implement several COVID-19 protocol changes effective March 1. BGCMA will also maintain some layers of protection in alignment with our commitment to safety.
COVID-19 Protocol Changes, effective March 1:
- Optional Masks in Buildings: *Masks are optional (no longer mandatory) for Club members, staff and visitors while inside any BGCMA building. NOTE: Clubs located on partnership sites must adhere to partnership site protocol (Ex: If a Club is located in a school building that requires masks, masks will remain mandatory for members and staff).
- Parent & Caregiver Pick Up: Parents and caregivers can now pick up members inside Clubs.
- Temperature Checks: BGCMA will no longer conduct temperature checks upon building entry.
- Field Trips: Field trips will resume on a Club-by-Club basis.
- Club-Specific Sports: Sports programming is approved at the local Club level. Cross-Club participation are approved for outdoor spring sports only.
COVID-19 Continued Layers of Protection:
- Masks on Buses: Due to close proximity, Club members and staff are encouraged to continue wearing masks while being transported to Clubs on buses.
- Vaccination & Testing: New staff hires are still required to be fully vaccinated. Current employees must be fully vaccinated or submit weekly testing.
- Cleaning: BGCMA buildings will continue to be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected.
*BGCMA recognizes that some Club members and staff may prefer to continue wearing a mask indoors, and we encourage anyone who feels this way to continue to do so. BGCMA will continue to monitor COVID-19 levels and may need to shift operations in an effort to keep Club members and staff safe.
Help Us Continue to Serve our Mission
As we reopen our Clubs at full capacity, we are committed to serving our kids and families with safety top of mind. We’re working with kids and teens to process their emotions and heal from trauma, address challenges related to academic backslide and distance learning, and continue the path to reach their unlimited potential. As trusted mentors for more than 80 years, we’re dedicated to showing our kids the power of their voice in serving as advocates for a better future.
