Corporate and Community Leaders Bring Decades of Experience to Supporting the Nonprofit’s Strategic Vision
Atlanta, GA – December 18, 2020 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) is pleased to announce the Class of 2020 to its Corporate Board of Directors. Corporate Board members play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization and working to secure vital funding to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s 20+ locations in and around the city.
BGCMA is pleased to welcome new members:
Eric L. Barnum is a partner at Baker Hostetler. As an experienced trial lawyer, Barnum has practiced in all areas of employment law and litigation and has served as lead employment counsel for several high-profile clients including Atlanta’s professional sports teams and Fortune 500 companies across the Southeast and nationally. He has been named one of the Top 100 lawyers in Georgia by Georgia Super Lawyers, as well as one of The Best Lawyers in America. Barnum graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
Althea Broughton is a leading practitioner in real estate law, representing developers, owners and governmental agencies in structuring complex commercial real estate transactions. Ms. Broughton has been honored as Law and Justice Woman of the Year, an Atlanta Tribune Woman of Influence and an Atlanta Business Chronicle Woman Who Means Business. Ms. Broughton has also been named a Georgia Super Lawyer, one of the Best Lawyers in America and a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Law. She is currently Co-Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP and has held several other leadership roles at the firm. She is a graduate of Emory University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Helen S. Carlos has a long history of civic engagement and community service. She has served on a number of nonprofit boards in and around metro Atlanta, including Open Hand Atlanta, Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Camp Twin Lakes. She also volunteers her time as part of the Board of Trustees for Marcus Autism Center. Carlos is experienced in leading up large-scale nonprofit galas and events serving as the chair in previous years for events including Big-To-Do at the Zoo, Hospice Annual Gala and the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta 2003 Christmas Parade. Carlos graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor’s and began her career as a special education teacher. She also graduated from Furman University with a Master’s in Learning Disabilities and Emotionally Handicapped.
Jenny Cybul is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Bennett Thrasher LLP, one of the largest CPA firms in the U.S. Cybul ensures the company’s human resources initiatives are in alignment with business objectives and growth. She oversees the development of more than 300 professionals with a focus on organizational leadership development. Cybul holds the Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) Designation and is a member of Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Human Resource Leadership Forum (HRLF). She graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology.
Jimmy Morris is a Director at Citi Private Bank, one of the world’s fastest growing private banks. He provides advice and strategies to family offices and ultra-high net worth clients with a focus on investment management, capital markets, complex financing, global banking and estate planning. Morris graduated from Miami University (Oxford) with a Bachelor’s in Finance and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Aniska Moss-Melford is an accounting and compliance executive with over 15 years of multi-national supervisory experience in the Caribbean, United States, Europe and Asia. Melford is a former Big 4 Senior Audit Manager and currently serves as a Vice President of Accounting at United Parcel Service (UPS), one of the world’s largest package delivery companies. In this role, she oversees more than 300 employees. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and University of North Alabama with a Master of Business Administration.
Together, in addition to their traditional roles, BGCMA’s new board members have been tasked with conceptualizing and delivering a leadership series to Club executives in and around metro Atlanta. The team will equip key leaders in the organization with the knowledge and tools they need to enhance the operations of local Clubs and efficiently manage and deliver high-impact programs. This initiative will serve as a vehicle for BGCMA to further advance its mission of supporting kids and teens living in communities with high need to reach their full potential.

Traditionally, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta reaches nearly 2,800 kids and teens each day and nearly 8,000 kids and teens each year. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s mission is to ignite the unlimited potential of kids and teens by creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments. Through 20+ Clubs in 10 metro counties, trained and professional staff serve nearly 2,800 youth (ages 6-18) daily through programs that foster academic success, healthy lifestyles and character and leadership development. BGCMA also oversees Camp Kiwanis, a 160-acre outdoor residence camp. While it costs thousands of dollars to serve every child each year, families are asked to pay between $60 and $135 per child per semester based on income; and no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
