Camp AMP'ed 2025Camp AMP’ed, the highly anticipated 10th annual event hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s Camp Kiwanis, brought together teens from across Metro Atlanta for a MLK weekend full of creativity, collaboration, and fun. Held at the 160-acre Camp Kiwanis in Danielsville, this year’s event showcased the talents of teens from 17 different Clubs and also welcomed teens from Madison County.

Themed “Legacy in Motion,” Camp AMP’ed 2025 provided teens with an opportunity to explore and develop their skills in Art, Music, and Performance EDucation (AMP’ed). Over the course of the weekend, teens were given the chance to express themselves, learn new creative techniques, and bond with peers and mentors.

“From beats to bars, videos to vocals, these young creators truly embodied what it means to express themselves through art. Watching their growth and seeing their joy makes it all worth it,” said Ruben Royster, BGCMA Director of Arts & Innovation.

A Diverse Group of Teen Artists

Participants from At-Promise South, At-Promise West, A. Worley Brown, Barksdale, Douglas, Draper, East DeKalb, Flint River, Grant, Harland, Lawrenceville, Mimms, Shaq and Warren Clubs, as well as Madison County teens, were immersed in a variety of creative workshops. Whether it was painting, video production, music, theater, or dance, the weekend was designed to help teens expand their artistic horizons and find new ways to express their creativity.

An Incredible Team of Instructors and Mentors

The success of Camp AMP’ed was made possible thanks to a dedicated team of instructors who provided hands-on learning experiences in their areas of expertise.

  • Aukejshia Boyce-Gaskins led visual arts workshops where teens explored different artistic techniques.
  • Clint Orr (Madison County High School) guided teens in video production, showing them how to bring their ideas to life on screen.
  • Richard Johnson & Silas Clark introduced music production and lyricism, helping teens craft their own original songs.
  • Shynessa Jordan brought theater to life, teaching teens how to perform with confidence.
  • Jasmine Marrero led dance workshops that allowed teens to express themselves through movement.

A huge shout-out also goes to the cabin counselors—Elias, Myles, Miles, Ida, Nalani, and Karen—whose support ensured the teens had a safe, fun, and memorable weekend.

Keynote Speaker & Special Support

This year’s camp was also graced by a special keynote address from Sunshine Reign of ATL Radio 95.1FM, who shared an inspiring message with the attendees.

Additionally, the Chamblee Club/W.B. Smalls Club provided valuable support, with special thanks going to Jasmine, Ruben, Danielle, and the LINK teens for their assistance throughout the weekend.

The Kitchen Crew—led by Mr. Hootie (Cook) and David Evans (Kitchen Manager)—deserves a big thank you for keeping everyone well-fed and happy with delicious meals during the weekend.

Special Thanks to Fulton County Arts and Culture

A heartfelt thank you goes to Fulton County Arts and Culture (FCAC) for supporting the Lyricism 101 program in our Fulton County Clubs. This unique program invites our members to explore the rich history and creative techniques of hip-hop, inspiring both artistic expression and critical thinking skills. The program’s highlight was a final performance at the 10th Annual Camp AMP’ed, where our talented youth had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and passion on stage. FCAC’s support empowers young voices, celebrates their creativity, and makes moments like these possible.

Thank You to Georgia Council for the Arts

We’d also like to express our gratitude to the Georgia Council for the Arts for their funding support of Camp AMP’ed 2025. Their commitment to the arts in our communities helped make this transformative event possible, providing teens with the resources and space to explore and express their creativity.

A Weekend of Fun, Learning, and Community

While the artistic workshops were the heart of the event, Camp AMP’ed also provided plenty of opportunities for fun and bonding. Teens participated in evening activities, played games, and danced to their hearts’ content. “Our teens were phenomenal at Camp AMP’ed: Legacy in Motion. The staff was exceptional, and the weather… well, you can’t win them all!” said Carly Robinson, Executive Director of Camp Kiwanis.

Looking Ahead

Camp AMP’ed 2025 was a resounding success, leaving teens inspired and excited to continue exploring their creative passions. The event was a testament to the power of community and collaboration, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s camp!
