It is Black History Month, and we are proud to join in the celebration with people and organizations across the nation. Black History is one of resistance, perseverance, and a legacy of working toward something better. Here, we acknowledge that Black History is not limited to the past. As an organization that primarily serves youth of African descent, we see Black history in the making every day as we ignite the unlimited potential of kids & teens at our 25 Clubs across Metro Atlanta. So, throughout the month of February, we are celebrating today’s and tomorrow’s Black leaders across Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA)!
Below are a few Black History Month highlights and leadership spotlights (be sure to check back for more)!
During Black History Month, Clubs participated in various Black History challenges. Utilizing Everfi, Clubs covered courses and modules ranging from Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts to College and Career Readiness to C3 Social Studies Standards.
Michael A. Grant Club won the challenge! Our Teens at the Grant Club rose to the occasion and completed the challenge with flying colors, and we are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating their success. The Grant Gators earned a celebratory party that will take place during their Club’s We Own Friday Event.
