More than 400 guests came out to enjoy an afternoon of networking and friendly competition at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA)’s 3rd annual Topgolf Fundraiser: Driving Great Futures in support of youth workforce readiness.
Held at Topgolf Midtown on April 20, the event brought together an array of supporters, including corporate professionals, donors, and Club alumni for an afternoon of golf tournament-style play, raffles, fun contests and the BGCMA Connect Club professional networking mixer.
Through the help of generous donations, BGCMA raised more than $225,000. It’s all an investment into the Great Futures of hundreds of kids & teens in the metro Atlanta community.
Proceeds directly benefit programs for teens such as free access to ACT/SAT preparation, workshops on resume building and interviewing, and experiences like career exploration tours, college and technical school visits, and paid summer work experiences. Countless local companies have served as sponsors for this fundraiser since its implementation. .
“At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, our mission is to ignite the unlimited potential of every young person who walks through our proverbial Blue Doors,” said President & CEO David Jernigan. “Our workforce readiness programming allows the kids and teens across our 25 Clubs in 10 Metro Atlanta counties to explore their passions, apply their knowledge to real-world work experiences and develop their employability skills—ultimately, empowering them to thrive in life and strengthen the futures of their communities and the world.”
Topgolf Fundraiser: Driving Great Futures sponsored by Merrill, will directly support BGCMA’s workforce readiness programming, which provides opportunities for teens to have free access to ACT/SAT preparation, workshops on resume building and interviewing, and experiences like career exploration tours, college and technical school visits, and paid summer work experiences. The goal is to ensure that Club members graduate from high school on time and with a personalized plan for their futures.
“We are listening to the voices of our teens, and they are telling us they want direct skill development through internship opportunities and through apprenticeship experiences. We support their varied interests in technology, entrepreneurship, and the arts,” said BGCMA Director of College and Career Readiness Dr. Anna Jones. “They are our workforce for today, and we are not waiting until tomorrow to begin exploring career options. Their future is our present. Our TopGolf fundraiser recognizes the financial support, direct service, mentorship, and industry networking opportunities that are immediate pillars for success within our Clubs and for our teens.”
The 2023 Topgolf Fundraiser: Driving Great Futures would not have been successful without the generous support of our presenting sponsor Merrill (A Bank of America Company), as well as individual and corporate sponsors.
