Arts & Innovation Thrives at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta
July 19, 2024 BGCMA

This summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) set the stage for creativity and growth through Arts & Innovation programming. At the heart of this initiative were diverse and enriching experiences designed to spark imagination and cultivate talent.

Under the leadership of Arts & Innovation Director Ruben Royster, summer A&I programming included:

🏛️ Architecture Camp with Gensler at SCAD Theatre, allowing our youth to explore the world of design.
🎭 Playwright Programming with Theatrical Outfit, nurturing the storytellers of tomorrow.
🎬 Video Production and Content Creation Programming with Kaay! Studios, where budding filmmakers honed their craft.
🎸 Rockstar Concert with our amazing partners from Florida Rockstar 101, letting our members shine on stage!

Thanks to Georgia Council for the Arts for their support of the Kaay Studios Content Creation Camp and Theatrical Outfit’s Rhythm and Revision spoken word and playwriting camp.  Through these programs, youth participated in programming related to content creation, playwriting, and spoken word.  We are grateful for the Council’s support in making these programs possible.

“We were excited to have Kaay! Studios provide an incredible content creation and video production camp at our East Dekalb, Douglas County, and Draper locations,” Royster said. “The kids dove deep into the world of content creation, mastering all the concepts and techniques they need to shine in the digital age. On the final day, they showcased their amazing work, and we couldn’t be more proud! A massive thank you to Kisa Willis for this fantastic partnership. 🙌 The kids absolutely loved every moment of it!”

“We are so excited to be working with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta with our RHYTHM & REVISION program for the third year,” remarked Addae Moon, Theatrical Outfit associate director and the visionary behind the spoken word and playwriting workshops. “These workshops, supported by the Georgia Council for the Arts, empowered young artists to craft compelling narratives through poetry and theatrical performance.”

As the summer drew to a close, the buzz of creativity lingered, promising an equally vibrant fall season ahead. With continued support from the community and dedicated collaborators, BGCMA is poised to nurture even more young talents in the arts, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shine on their chosen stage.
