DETAILS:
The Power of Words event gives Boys & Girls Club youth the opportunity to take the stage at the Woodruff Arts Center and express themselves creatively through spoken word, poetry, creative writing, and song and dance. As a friend and supporter of BGCMA, we would love for you to join us at this amazing event.
According to the Americans for the Arts, art education makes a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of every child and has been proven to help level the “learning field” across socio-economic boundaries. Programs like Marel Brown help to address this development gap among youth, while making learning interesting and fun.
The Power of Words event and Marel Brown Creative Writing program are part of a larger effort by Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta to focus on academics and help kids succeed in school.
Following the Marel Brown Creative Writing program there will be a book signing opportunity for the young artists inside the 1280 Gallery.
Funding for this program is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
