Meet Sergio: Youth of the Year for Michael A. Grant Boys & Girls Club

Post-Secondary/Career Interest: I plan on going to trade school to learn a skill that I enjoy and build a stable career for myself.

How has your Club supported your goals for college, post-secondary education, and career? They have given me multiple opportunities and options that I could take to pursue my goal of trade school, they consistently want to know what I plan to do for career and set me up with people who are vested in the field. They take the dreams and aspirations I tell them seriously and help me apply them to real life and start taking the steps to my dream world.

Why is it important for the youth to use their voice in today’s society? I believe the youth is power, we are next in line so I believe our voice matters now more than ever because the present and future actions not only affects us right now but it will have brutal affect on the future generations like us. So I believe if we speak up for our future and rally together we could be unstoppable force and could make a real change for ourselves and show that not only that we care for our future but we want to make a change.

Short Bio: Sergio is a 18-year-old senior who credits Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta with helping him overcome his self-contradiction and showed him that his mistakes never defined him, and everyone makes mistakes; it’s just about how you bounce back from those mistakes.
