Protect 21st Century Community Learning Centers—including 6 after-school Club sites at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta

On March 20, the Administration issued an Executive Order proposing to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education—an agency responsible for overseeing the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program. Since then, the proposed federal budget has called for the complete elimination of 21st Century Grants, a critical funding source that supports six of our Club sites.

While full implementation would require Congressional support, these actions could still have significant impacts on Boys & Girls Clubs and the youth our Clubs serve. The collective strength of your support of our Clubs is needed now!

For decades, the Department of Education has provided funding support for key programs that help fuel academic support at Clubs across the country—including 6 here in Metro Atlanta!

One of the most critical is the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program, which provides funding for more than 1.5 million children including more than 240,000 Club youth at more than 900 sites nationwide — offering essential academic enrichment, STEM activities, and skills development.

Right now, tell your Members of Congress to protect the funding and infrastructure required to maintain 21 Century Community Learning Centers!

As this executive action moves forward, we call on Congress to protect critical funding and infrastructure for out-of-school time like 21st CCLCs to ensure Clubs can support closing academic performance gaps, address chronic absenteeism and build the skills they need to reach their potential.

Any disruptions or cuts to 21st CCLC and these programs would create impact in our communities – reducing the number of children served, and taking away a critical lifeline for working parents who depend on these high-quality and safe spaces to send their kids.

Join us and tell your Members of Congress to protect funding streams for out-of-school time programs!
