Usher is continuing his commitment to empowering the next generation with the launch of a state-of-the-art content studio at the Joseph B. Whitehead Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta. On Dec. 9, the Usher Spark Lab was brought to life.
“Returning to the Boys & Girls Clubs, where I discovered my passion, and launching this program in Atlanta is a full-circle moment for me,” Usher said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “The Spark Lab and Entertainment Industry Club is about providing our youth with the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to turn their dreams into reality. It’s an honor to help inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators through after-school programs.”
The Spark Lab will provide access to cutting-edge equipment and resources, giving Boys & Girls Club members the tools to explore careers in music, media, and entertainment. The project reflects Usher’s long-standing relationship with Boys & Girls Club, where he first cultivated his passion for music. Speaking to attendees, Usher emphasized the significance of investing in youth. “We are invested in our future. We’re invested in youth, and I’m an example. I represent amazing alumni.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony comes as Usher wraps up his Social Impact Tour, an initiative in collaboration with Usher’s New Look Foundation. The tour, which has helped over 4,800 kids across the country this year, included stops in cities such as Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Detroit, Oakland, and Houston.
One Boys & Girls Club member expressed excitement about Usher’s involvement, telling Atlanta Now, “Usher’s a great guy, man. He’s giving a lot of these youth chances to help their community.”
