In these times of uncertainty, it’s comforting to know that some things – and people – never change. Mrs. Gail Johnson – a 40-year veteran of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta – is a quiet example of what it means to consistently lead with love, compassion, and excellence for our families and kids.
It’s no surprise that even in the midst of a pandemic, the Warren Club executive director has continued to go the extra mile. But her most recent selfless act of writing 267 letters by hand was one for the books. It took her about 2 ½ weeks to write and mail the letters to her Club families – her way of reminding them that they’re cared for during these challenging times.
As he prepares to start college this fall, Club teen Jelani Spain reflected on how much he appreciates Ms. Gail “for always being there for me.”
“Even when I didn’t know it, Ms. Gail was there making things happen to benefit my future. I’m thankful for these seven years I’ve had with her. She’s truly taught me so much and I’m truly grateful for everything.”
Although our doors are temporarily closed, we are grateful to have advocates like Ms. Gail who stay committed to spreading kindness and keeping kids first. Thank you for all you do to support Great Futures, Ms. Gail!
