This summer, five spectacular girls (and their dedicated program directors) from our Anderson, Warren and Grant Clubs attended the GEM (Girls Empowering Movement) Summitt.
The “2022 GEM Statewide Leadership Summit: Making an Impact. Igniting Change” took place June 24-26, 2022 at the University of West Georgia. Over the course of three days, hundreds of middle school girls from across the state came together to experience a fun-filled time of leadership training, social connections, wellness workshops, guest speakers, and physical activity sessions.
The GEM Summit is a one-of-a-kind event that prepares girls to take the lead to improve the health and well-being of their generation by taking action in their own communities to create innovative physical activity and wellness programs designed by girls, for girls. GEM Summit training and resources will impact over 7,000 girls participating in the GEM program statewide in 2022-23.
The summit was hosted by GEM partner organizations: HealthMPowers, Boys and Girls Clubs of Georgia, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, and the University of West Georgia.
GEM is a statewide initiative to increase physical activity and fitness levels of Georgia’s middle school girls through activities designed and led by girls. For more info on the Girls Empowering Movement program, visit: www.GEMPower.org
