On March 17, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (our national organization headquartered in Atlanta), announced a $281 million donation from author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.

The generous donation is the “largest collective gift” in our national organization’s 160-year history, and it will be used to support both the national organization and 62 local Boys & Girls Clubs around the country. Unfortunately, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has NOT been selected as one of those beneficiaries.

It remains unclear what parameters were used to determine which regions would receive a share of the $281M. Although Metro Atlanta was not identified as a beneficiary of the donation, we are so grateful for MacKenzie Scott’s generous contribution to our Movement as a whole.

Gifts like these are rare and have a powerful impact on our national mission. We are energized by the impact this gift will have for our national organization, the 62 local Clubs that were selected by the donor, and young people across America.
