Simon H. Bloom, Esq. and New Board Members Bring Decades of Experience to Support Strategic Vision of the Organization

Atlanta, GA – January 22, 2020 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Corporate Board Chair – Simon H. Bloom, Esq., Partner at Bloom Parham, LLP. The organization also welcomes several other key strategic additions to the board team. Corporate Board members will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization and working to secure critical funding to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s 20+ locations in and around the city.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is pleased to welcome new members including:

  • Rita Breen, Executive Director, Charitable Giving, Georgia Power
  • James Morris, Senior Vice President, Citi Private Bank
  • Tom Reilly, Partner, Troutman Sanders LLP

Bloom has spent nearly 20 years in the Boys & Girls Club movement, most recently serving as the Chair of the Resource Development Committee, the chief liaison between the Corporate Board and the County Boards, and the Board Chair Elect. In 2012, he was honored as the Board Member of the Year. He is currently a partner at Bloom Parham, LLP and has tried high stakes civil matters at both the state and federal level throughout the nation. He has been named one of the Top 100 lawyers in Georgia by Georgia Super Lawyers, as well as one of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Top 40 under 40”. Bloom brings solid insight and counsel in helping Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta further advance its mission of helping underserved kids and teens reach their full potential.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta serves nearly 2,800 kids and teens each day and nearly 10,000 youth each year. By 2020, the organization is working to ensure that 90 percent of the youth it serves are graduating on time, living healthy lifestyles, and giving back to their communities.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s mission is to save and change the lives of children and teens, especially those who need us most, by providing a safe, positive and engaging environment and programs that prepare and inspire them to achieve Great Futures. Through 20+ Clubs in 10 metro counties, trained and professional staff serve nearly 2,800 youth (ages 6-18) daily through programs that foster academic success, healthy lifestyles and character and leadership development. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta also oversees Camp Kiwanis, a 160-acre outdoor residence camp. While the cost to effectively serve those who need us most is approximately $5,700 per member, families are asked to pay between $60 and $135 per child each year based on income; and no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
